Barra do dande: The tile and ceramic factory located in the Sino Ord Industrial Park, in Barra do Dande Municipality, Angola's northern province of Bengo, currently exports 120 containers of products per month to various African markets, the assistant to the Industrial Park's General Director, Lucas Calei, said today. Speaking to the press, Lucas Calei stated that the factory's products are mainly exported to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of the Congo, Guinea, South Africa, and Morocco.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the tile and ceramic factory, regarded as Sino Ord's pioneering industrial unit, represents an investment of USD 24 million and is one of the principal production facilities within the Barra do Dande Industrial Park. He explained that the Barra do Dande Industrial Park was designed as a logistics platform, equipped with its own logistics company and a bonded warehouse, with the aim of facilitating export procedures and product distribution.
Covering an area of 400 hectares, the Barra do Dande Industrial Park currently hosts 17 industrial units, which have contributed to the growth of industrial activity and job creation. Among the ongoing investments, he highlighted the glass bottle factory, recently inaugurated, whose first phase is already operational with two production lines. The facility currently produces around 500,000 bottles per day and, upon completion of the second phase, scheduled for 2027, it is expected to operate six production lines and two furnaces, increasing total capacity to 800,000 glass bottles per day.
According to Lucas Calei, the factory's production is currently destined for the domestic market, helping to reduce imports of glass packaging. He added that the country's leading beverage manufacturers are already working with the facility. The Municipal Director for Integrated Economic Development of Barra do Dande, Yuri Silva, revealed that around 6,000 jobs have been created by the industrial sector in the municipality as a result of growing investment and the implementation of new industrial projects that have contributed to youth employment.
He said several companies operating in the municipality have expressed interest in increasing production capacity and, consequently, expanding their workforce in order to strengthen the supply of domestic products and boost exports. He noted that the expansion of industrial units represents an opportunity to diversify the economy and increase national production.
