Angolan Vice-President to Lead Cultural Heritage Session in Uíge Province

Uíge: Angolan Vice-President Esperança da Costa is expected in Uíge province this Monday, where she will lead the 1st Ordinary Session of the National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of World Cultural Heritage. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Vice-President's agenda will also include inspecting the construction of the new Uíge General Hospital and the 15,000 home water connections project, alongside other initiatives in the province. Residents have expressed that the two-day visit is critical for the region's governance and development. Student Eduardo Ventura emphasized the importance of the Vice-President's visit for assessing the province's socioeconomic conditions through inspections of various establishments. Leonardo Kifumu, a young local, highlighted the significance of the water distribution network expansion project, praising the Vice-President's involvement as a boost to the project's successful execution. Maria Francisco, another student, expressed her anticipation fo r the visit, describing it as a long-awaited event for the local population. "Welcome to the land of the red berry," she remarked, reflecting the community's welcoming spirit. The Vice-President's work agenda on Monday includes leading review meetings of several key national councils, focusing on issues such as HIV/AIDS, road and traffic planning, and climate change, among others. Uíge province, located about 345 kilometers from Luanda, is renowned for its natural and cultural wealth, boasting attractions such as Lagoa do Feitiço, the Nzenzo Caves, and the Pingano mountain range. Beyond tourism, Uíge is a region rich in agricultural, mining, and forestry resources. Recently, the province expanded from 16 to 23 municipalities following a New Political-Administrative Division.
