Huambo:The Provincial Delegation of ANGOP and the Provincial Station of the National Radio Group of Angola in Huambo initiated a campaign on Sunday aimed at updating the Unofficial Electoral Register and Proof of Life. The campaign is part of efforts to enhance citizenship and prepare for the 2027 General Elections.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the event took place at the ANGOP Delegation facilities on Avenida 21 Aniversario da Independência. It was organized during a program by the Provincial Station of the National Radio of Angola to commemorate the 51st anniversary of Angola's only news agency.
The initiative, supported by the Registry and Administrative Modernization Office of the Huambo Provincial Government, encouraged citizens not only to provide proof of life but also to invite family and friends to participate in the process. This involvement is seen as crucial to ensure active participation in the upcoming elections.
Angolan citizen Nelson Jamba emphasized the importance of the process, citing its reliability and transparency. José Gime, another participant, highlighted the ease of updating information, noting his readiness to vote as a fundamental democratic right.
Manuel Uranio, a resident of the city, stressed the importance of involving churches, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and national citizens to ensure comprehensive participation in the elections.
The Huambo province is equipped with One-Stop Public Service Counters (BUAP) in all 17 municipalities, along with mobile brigades, to facilitate citizen engagement. ANGOP, established in 1975, and the National Radio of Angola, with its diverse channels, continue to play pivotal roles in the dissemination of information and support of national initiatives.
