ANGOP’s Commitment to Rigorous and Credible Information Highlighted by CEO

Luanda: The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), Josu© Salussuva Isaas, emphasized the agency’s unwavering commitment to providing society with rigorous and credible information. Speaking in Luanda, Isaas underscored ANGOP’s dedication to maintaining its status as a leading source of information about Angola on the occasion of its upcoming 50th anniversary.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Isaas affirmed ANGOP’s resolve to remain at the forefront of disseminating state interests and distributing national news globally. Reflecting on the agency’s adaptability since its inception, he noted its resilience despite early challenges with limited human and financial resources.

ANGOP’s evolution from a small team of six journalists to a significant national entity has been marked by technological adaptation, including the transition from fax and telex to computers in the late 1980s and internet use starting in 1993. This digital shift has solidified ANGOP’s position as a resilient and innovative institution in the realm of contemporary journalism.

Throughout Angola’s civil war period, ANGOP played a vital role in providing reliable information, becoming a reference point both nationally and internationally. Isaas highlighted that various foreign agencies relied on ANGOP’s content to report on Angolan affairs, from the war to societal developments.

In light of the growing influence of social networks and digital platforms, Isaas stressed that ANGOP will continue to invest in technological innovation to keep pace with global transformations. He cited international recognition of ANGOP’s credibility, referencing a United States ambassador’s acknowledgment of the agency as a primary source of information on Angola.

Addressing ANGOP employees, Isaas expressed gratitude for their dedication and promised efforts to enhance their working conditions. He called for unity and dedication to further advance the agency’s mission. As ANGOP prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary, Isaas invited all employees to participate in the official festivities on October 30th, emphasizing the value of each individual’s contribution to the agency’s growth.

The Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) remains committed to its public service role, focusing on the exclusive collection, processing, and distribution of objective news on both national and international events.
