Luanda: Five thousand residents of the Quiage commune, located in Bengo province, are set to benefit from ANGOSAT-2 internet services in the coming days. This development follows the restoration of the local "Conecta Angola" access point, which aims to enhance connectivity in the region.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) announced that the restoration of connectivity is part of an initiative launched by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication (MINTTICS). This initiative targets issues affecting conventional networks in remote areas.
The restoration effort was carried out by GGPEN in collaboration with its partners, focusing on several provinces including Bengo, Icolo e Bengo, Cuanza-Sul, Malanje, Uige, Zaire, Bi©, Moxico, Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul, and Cabinda. The activities involve the restoration and migration of antennas for ANGOSAT-2 connectivity, the installation of the "Observa+" application, and engaging local communities in space science, technology, and innovation initiatives.
The initiative is also part of a broader strategy to integrate space technologies into educational institutions and provide students with access to space applications and data. The Quiage commune forms part of the Bula Atumba municipality, where these efforts are expected to significantly improve internet accessibility for the residents.
