Tunisian boxers Meriem Homrani Zayani and Wiem JOuini won silver in the women’s boxing tournament at the Arab Sports Games (July 5-15), on Tuesday in Algiers.
Zayani lost to Oran Mediterranean Games gold medallist, Algerian Hadjila Khélif, by a referee stoppage in the second round of the -60kg category.
Tunisia’s Wiem Jouini (-50kg) had earlier lost to another Algerian, Roumaïssa Boualem.
In addition to hosts Algeria, 12 Arab countries are taking part in the Algiers event, which involves women’s competitions for the first time.
