Bengo exceeds forecast and vaccinates more than 90 thousand children against polio


The polio vaccination campaign in the province of Bengo exceeded the forecast of 87 thousand 685 children, with the immunization of 91 thousand 143 children.

The information was provided to the press Wednesday, by the director Bengo Provincial Health Office, Domingos Raul Golão, justifying the improvement in vaccination coverage with the increase in vaccination teams, the intensification of mobilization and the good preparation of the campaign by the health authorities.

Domingos Raul Golão added that the data provided is still provisional, so the numbers may change in the coming days.

In the 3rd phase of the campaign carried out from 6 to 8 September, 103,000 doses were made available and involved more than 800 agents, including vaccinators, mobilizers, supervisors, registrars and coordinators, in a total of 197 vaccination teams.

Poliomyelitis, also called polio or infantile paralysis, is an acute viral infectious disease transmitted from person to person, mainly through the fecal-oral route.
