Bengo: The governor of northern Bengo province, Maria Antonia Nelumba, announced that Bengo is advancing in its efforts to diversify the national economy with the inauguration of an aluminum factory.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the factory is located in the Barra do Dande Free Trade Zone and will be developed in five phases. The project involves an estimated total investment of 1.6 billion US dollars over eight to ten years. This initiative is a partnership between the Chinese consortium Hebei Huatong Wire and Cables Group Co. Ltd. and Huatong Angola Industry Lda. Once completed, the factory is expected to create around 12,000 jobs.
The governor emphasized that in the last two years, over a dozen factories in various sectors have opened in Bengo province. These developments have not only contributed significantly to the country's gross domestic product but have also created 2,354 jobs for young people.
