Luanda:Strengthening domestic confidence and aligning sectoral regulations are critical to unlocking cross-border liquidity and advancing capital market integration across Africa, Cristina Lourenço, executive committee president of the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA), said on Wednesday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Lourenço made these remarks at the 6th African Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) in Luanda, emphasizing that regional financial integration must be treated as a developmental process rooted in building robust domestic markets.
Sustainable market liquidity requires close coordination between government policy and capital markets, Lourenço added, noting Angola's privatization of state stakes in benchmark enterprises as a key catalyst for energizing local equities.
BODIVA, the youngest stock exchange in sub-Saharan Africa, spent its first twelve years focusing primarily on public debt instruments before launching its equity market in 2022. Since then, the exchange has hosted seven initial public offerings across the banking, telecommunications, and insurance sectors.
