BODIVA Highlights Investment in Women’s Economic Participation as Key to Innovation

Luanda: Cristina Louren§o, President of the Executive Committee of the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA), acknowledged on Tuesday in Luanda that investments in women's full participation in the economy and access to leadership represent a direct commitment to building a more innovative society.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the statement was made during the second edition of the "Ringing the Bell for Gender Equality" event. Louren§o emphasized that investing in girls' education leads to a more prosperous and balanced society. BODIVA, as a member of the United Nations Global Compact and the World Federation of Exchanges, considers gender equality a cross-cutting priority, in harmony with its Strategic Plan for 2024-2028.

Louren§o stated that the initiative is not merely symbolic but represents corporate and social responsibility. She highlighted that inclusion begins within institutions through the adoption of policies, creation of opportunities, opening of doors, and impact on the wider ecosystem. Louren§o acknowledged cultural and social barriers that impede the full development of women, yet she highlighted the strength and transformative capacity of Angolan women in various roles.

The event, a global meeting held in March during Women's Month, served as a platform to reflect on and reaffirm that gender equality is essential for the sustainable development of Angola and the world. Louren§o noted that ringing the bell simultaneously with stock exchanges worldwide acts as a call to action for organizations to consider their gender equality policies and decision-making processes.

The workshop was organized by the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange - Regulated Markets Management Company in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact. The central theme was 'Investing in Women, Accelerating Progress', part of the World Federation of Exchanges' annual gender equality campaign. It gathered stakeholders to discuss their commitment to promoting gender equality and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
