Tunisia takes part in “Station Afrique” on occaion of Paris Olympics


Tunis: Tunisia is participating in ‘Station Africa,’ event organised by the Ile Saint-Denis municipality in Paris, on the occasion of the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, which offers a multicultural space connecting the games to the various countries of the African continent.

According to the National Office of Tunisian Tourism, this participation is a valuable opportunity for Tunisia to showcase the richness of its heritage, its flavours and its know-how, through a regional diversity as rich as it is diverse.

Tunisia will welcome visitors to a 25 sq. m. space, fitted out to allow visitors to discover Tunisian handicrafts with tapestries, jewellery, ceramics, Mdhalla and Chechia, and Tunisian flavours with pastries, confectionery and other delicacies, showcasing UNESCO-recognised treasures such as Sejnane ceramics and harissa, as well as the latest in traditional design, including scents, tableware, various foutas and designer accessories and outfits.

Tunisian craftsmen and artists will be taking turns on the st
and to share their skills and offer visitors live demonstrations of mosaics, vegetable amber and Tunisian crochet.

The highlight of the Tunisian participation will be marked by ‘Tunisia Day’ on July 29. This special day will feature music, song and dance performances, spotlighting young Tunisian talent.

The evening will be orchestrated by the master of ceremonies, young and talented comedian Imen Lahmer.

The organisers called on the local population and visitors from all over the world to “discover Tunisia in all its diversity and splendour, and enjoy the cultural and artistic treasures it boasts.”

Paris 2024 Olympics – Men’s Sabre: Fares Ferjani reaches semi-finals


Tunis: Tunisian fencer Farès Ferjani qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympic men’s sabre tournament at the Paris 2024 Games by defeating China’s Shen Chenpeng (15-14) on Saturday.

The Tunisian had previously eliminated South Korea’s Gu Bon-gil (15-8) in the first round and Hungary’s Gemesi Cesanad (15-14) in the second round.

Ferjani will meet Egypt’s Zied El-Sissi in the semi-finals, while Italy’s Luigi Samele will take on South Korea’s Oh Sanguk in the other semi-final.

Paris 2024: Tunisia’s Slim Jemai fails to qualify for semi-finals of men’s C1 Canoe Slalom


Tunis: Tunisia’s Slim Jemai failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the men’s C1 Canoe Slalom event at the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, finishing 20th, the last place, at the end of the two heats contested on Saturday.

Jemai will compete in the men’s single-seater kayak slalom on July 30 and in the men’s kayak cross-time trial on August 2.

Tunisian fencer Fares Ferjani qualifies for final of Olympic men’s sabre tournament


Tunis: Tunisian fencer Fares Ferjani qualified for the final of the Olympic men’s sabre tournament at the Paris 2024 Games, after defeating Egyptian fencer Ziad El Sisi 15-11 in the semi-final.

Ferjani will take on in the final at 8.05 p.m. TH, either Italian Luigi Samele or South Korean Oh Sanguk, who are currently playing against each other.

In the previous rounds, Ferjani eliminated South Korea’s Gu Bon-gil (15-8), Hungary’s Gemesi Cesanad (15-14) and China’s Shen Chenpeng (15-14), respectively.

Tunisian fencer Fares Ferjani clinches first medal at Olympic Games, bags silver


Tunis: Tunisian fencer Fares Ferjani clinched Tunisia’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, securing silver in the sabre event.

Ferjani delivered an outstanding performance but was ultimately bested by South Korean fencer Oh Sang-uk, with a final score of 15-11 in a fiercely contested final.

In the semi-finals, Ferjani won Egyptian fencer Ziad El Sisi 15-11.

In the previous rounds, Ferjani eliminated South Korea’s Gu Bon-gil (15-8) and Hungary’s Gemesi Cesanad (15-14).

The bronze medal in the sabre event went to Italian Luigi Samele, after beating Egyptian Ziad El Sisi 15-12.
