Central Bank Predicts Single-Digit Inflation Rate in August

Malanje: The Governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Manuel Tiago Dias, reaffirmed today in Malanje that the inflation rate remains on a solid downward trajectory and is projected to reach single digits in August of this year.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Manuel Tiago Dias was speaking after a meeting with the Deputy Governor for the Political, Social, and Economic Sector, Joana Tom¡s Martins, and based the central bank's optimism on the latest official indicators. The governor highlighted that the most recent data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) confirm a continuous decline in inflation, indicating that the single-digit target is likely to be achieved when the July figures are published in mid-August.

Manuel Ant³nio Tiago Dias noted that reducing inflation is a strategic goal for the BNA, as it signifies greater macroeconomic stability and increased purchasing power for Angolan families. He emphasized that while achieving low and stable inflation is the medium- to long-term objective for economic progress, the institution will maintain its efforts to ensure this remains a priority focus of his administration.

Regarding the visit to Malanje, Manuel Ant³nio Tiago Dias explained that it aligns with the Monetary Policy Committee (CPM) meeting scheduled for Tuesday. This meeting aims to analyze developments in the international and domestic economic landscape, with particular attention to the real, fiscal, external, and monetary sectors.

The National Bank of Angola (BNA) delegation's itinerary in Malanje includes a visit in the coming days to the Socamia Farm, located in the municipality of Cangandala.
