Cholera Outbreak: Angola Reports 126 New Cases in Multiple Provinces

Luanda: One hundred and twenty-six new cases of cholera were recorded in the last 24 hours in the provinces of Cuanza-Sul, Huíla, Namibe, Lunda-Norte, Zaire, Luanda, Cuanza-Norte, and Bengo. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health's information bulletin, which updates the number of cases, reported a death in Cuanza-Sul in the last 24 hours. Out of the 126 cases reported, 48 are from Cuanza-Sul, 33 from Huíla, 18 from Namibe, 13 from Lunda-Norte, 6 from Zaire, 5 from Luanda, 2 from Cuanza-Norte, and a case from Bengo. Since the beginning of the outbreak earlier this year, a cumulative total of 25,225 cases have been reported across the country. Luanda has reported 6,836 cases, Benguela 4,700, Bengo 3,046, Namibe 2,520, Cuanza-Sul 2,271, Cuanza-Norte 2,202, Icolo and Bengo 1,253, Malanje 1,147, Huíla 632, Cabinda 253, Zaire 170, Lunda-Norte 126, Cubango 59, Huambo 41, Uige 16, and Bié, Cunenem, and Lunda-Sul with fewer cases. In total, there have been 731 deaths, with 218 in Luanda, 11 9 in Bengo, 108 in Benguela, 68 in Cuanza-Norte, 65 in Cuanza-Sul, 51 in Namibe, 31 in Icolo and Bengo, 30 in Malanje, 24 in Huíla, 10 in Zaire, 5 in Huíla, 4 in Cabinda, 2 in Lunda-Norte, and 1 in Huambo.
