Luanda: One hundred and 92 patients have been discharged from hospital in Angola in the last 24 hours after recovering from cholera, ANGOP has learned. The patients were receiving medical treatment in several health facilities, following the cholera outbreak that has affected several provinces of the country since last January.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health Information Bulletin (Minsa), which updates cholera data daily in Angola, reported that 540 people are currently hospitalized with the disease, aged between two and 100 years old. In the last 24 hours, 283 new cases of cholera were reported, with 164 in Namibe, 71 in Cuanza-Sul, 13 in Huila, 10 in Luanda, six in Cuanza-Norte, five in Benguela, four in Lunda-Norte, three in Malanje, two in Zaire, the same number in Lcolo and Bengo, and one in Cabinda.
In the same period, six deaths were also registered, of which three occurred in Namibe, two in Cuanza-Sul, and one in Huila. Since the beginning of the outbreak, a cumulative total of 23,426 cases have been reported across various provinces, with 6,716 in Luanda, 4,678 in Benguela, 3,016 in Bengo, 2,169 in Cuanza-Norte, 1,831 in Namibe, 1,676 in Cuanza-Sul, 1,227 in Lcolo and Bengo, 1,142 in Malanje, 388 in Huila, 237 in Cabinda, 140 in Zaire, 87 in Lunda-Norte, 57 in Cubango, 41 in Huambo, 16 in Uge, two in Bi©, the same number in Cunene, and one in Lunda-Sul.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 699 deaths have occurred, 216 in Luanda, 119 in Bengo, 107 in Benguela, 68 in Cuanza-Norte, 53 in Cuanza-Sul, 44 in Namibe, 31 in Lcolo and Bengo, 30 in Malanje, 14 in Hula, 10 in Zaire, four in Cabinda, two in Lunda-Norte and one in Huambo.
