Luanda:DP World is set to invest more than USD 90 million in Angola over the next two years, as announced by its CEO for Africa, Mohammed Akoojee, during the Angola Hub Transport and Logistics Summit 2026 in Luanda. According to Angola Press News Agency, this investment follows the USD 260 million already allocated to the Port of Luanda. The new funds aim to modernize operations, introduce new technologies, and expand capacity. Beyond port operations, DP World is exploring opportunities in logistics markets, economic zones, and multimodal corridors to improve Angola's connectivity to regional and global supply chains. Mohammed Akoojee emphasized Angola's strategic location and its potential for economic diversification, highlighting its ability to serve as a gateway connecting Southern and Central Africa to the Atlantic and international markets. Akoojee advocated for an integrated logistics network that includes ports, railways, roads, logistics parks, and digital solutions to facilitate the movement of g oods and enhance connectivity with African markets. On a continental scale, DP World plans to invest USD 3 billion in Africa over the next five years to develop infrastructure and logistics ecosystems that improve trade efficiency. In Angola, 90% of DP World's workforce is local, and the company aims to promote job creation, training, and skills development as part of its investment strategy. This approach seeks to connect markets, people, and opportunities, contributing to sustainable economic growth. The summit in Luanda, attended by representatives from African governments, financial institutions, multilateral organizations, companies, investors, and operators, will continue until Wednesday, focusing on transport, logistics, connectivity, and economic integration.
