Eritrean Community in Angola Donates Essential Supplies to Cunene Rain Victims

Cunene: The Eritrean community delivered on Friday a donation of various food items and disposable diapers to the victims of the rains that have affected the Cunene province since February. The donation, composed of cornmeal, rice, pasta, vegetable oil, biscuits, and soft drinks, is intended to meet the needs of those affected.

According to Angola Press News Agency, at the delivery ceremony, the representative of the Eritrean community in Cunene, Moises Meles Berhane, stated that this was a first gesture, as support could continue if the problem of flooding persists. The director of the Provincial Office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, Georgina Braga, considered the donation essential for improving the living conditions of the families affected by the rains.

She said the gesture represents solidarity, empathy, and above all, love for one's neighbor, given the vulnerable situation faced by the victims, and appealed to other government partners to follow the same example, since rainfall continues regularly in the province. Georgina Braga said the government is also providing the necessary food and primary health care assistance to the families.

To date, more than 300 families, comprising over 600 people, have been affected by the rains and are currently housed in the Youth Center.
