Luanda: Sustainability and climate change expert Claudia Coelho acknowledged Angola's performance in the energy transition on Wednesday in Luanda, with the implementation of sustainable environmental policies and strategies.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Coelho, speaking at the Environment and Development forum, highlighted that Angola's energy system performance is 65.7 points, which surpasses the African average of approximately 57 points. This performance places Angola 11th in Africa and 92nd globally.
Despite these advancements, Coelho pointed out that preparing for the transition remains a significant challenge for the country. Angola continues to face obstacles in gearing up for a sustainable energy transition.
She emphasized that while Angola possesses robust energy infrastructure and potential for diversifying energy sources, there is a pressing need to enhance policies and investments. Such measures would help accelerate the integration of clean energy and green financing.
The forum, sponsored by the magazine Economia e Mercado, is focused on discussing the theme "Carbon, Green Finance, and Climate Justice: Strategies for Sustainable Development."
