Fire Destroys Part of Hospital Archives in Luanda

Luanda: A large-scale fire destroyed part of the archives of the Josina Machel Hospital in Luanda on Sunday afternoon, without causing any casualties. The Minister of Health, S­lvia Lutucuta, explained that the fire affected the "dead archive" area, which is adjacent to the neurosurgery department where 24 patients were hospitalized.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the Minister assured that the patients were moved to another area where they are safe. She highlighted the historical significance of the Josina Machel Hospital, noting that it is 142 years old and contains documents spanning its entire history.

The causes of the fire have not yet been determined, and investigations are likely to follow to prevent future incidents.
