Luanda: Angolan First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço emphasized the crucial link between socio-economic development and the improvement of living conditions for the population. Speaking during the announcement of winners for the 3rd edition of the Manuel António da Mota Award - A Life in Angola, Lourenço, as the jury president, stressed the importance of transforming recognition into meaningful change for the people. According to Angola Press News Agency, the First Lady highlighted the thorough evaluation process undertaken for the Manuel António da Mota Prize, which allowed for an in-depth analysis of the projects and a closer understanding of the realities faced by the communities benefiting from the initiative. The prestigious Manuel António da Mota Grand Prize was awarded to the Divina Providência hospital for its project to equip the Tuberculosis Treatment Center. In addition to Divina Providência, AfriYAN Angola and ADRA - Action for Rural Development and Environment were recognized for their contributions, s ecuring second and third places, respectively. The projects were applauded for their significant social impact and contribution to enhancing community living conditions across Angola. Monetary awards of 50,000, 25,000, and 15,000 US dollars, respectively, were granted to the winning institutions, converted into kwanzas. The ceremony was organized by Mota-Engil Angola in collaboration with the Manuel António da Mota Foundation and was attended by various dignitaries and members of Angolan society. The Manuel António da Mota Prize - A Life in Angola is designed to acknowledge and support social solidarity institutions that implement projects with tangible and transformative impacts on Angolan communities, focusing on areas such as education, health, social inclusion, gender equality, protection of vulnerable groups, and enhancing autonomy and living conditions. This edition saw a rigorous evaluation process, with six finalists emerging from a pool of applicants.
