Namibe: The First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Louren§o, delivered a bus to Welwitschia Mirabilis High School No. 58 in Namibe Province to support the institution's academic and extracurricular activities.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the bus, which has a capacity of 30 people, will be employed for extracurricular activities and field research for students in various curricular programs. The school's director, Alberto Mateia, highlighted the contribution of this donation to the institution.
In her role as the godmother of the high school, Ana Dias Louren§o also provided a television set for interactive classes. The school facilitates over 2,800 classes in subjects such as humanities, physics, biology, economics, law, and visual arts. The director regarded this donation as a reflection of the government's dedication to advancing education and promoting youth well-being in Angola.
Mateia emphasized that the bus will significantly benefit the student community, aiding over 2,800 students in their field trips and extracurricular activities. He underscored the importance of this asset in strengthening the teaching-learning process and integrating the school with the community.
The director also expressed the commitment of the students and faculty to maintain the bus responsibly. The intention is to ensure that it fulfills its pedagogical and social objectives effectively.
Moreover, Mateia praised the efforts of the Namibe provincial government in the education sector, citing the construction of new classrooms and the introduction of pedagogical innovations, notably the "Okulinonga" project. This initiative aims to integrate pastoralist and transhumance communities into the educational framework, promoting a more inclusive and modern education system.
Additionally, the director appealed to the First Lady and the Ngana Nzenza Foundation to collaborate with partners for the rehabilitation of the school's two multipurpose fields. This would enhance safety during sports classes and foster the development of school sports within the communities.
