Rabat: Angola and Mali drew goalless on Thursday in Rabat, in their debut match at the 16th U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, taking place in the Kingdom of Morocco. Goalkeeper and captain Gelson Dala stood out after neutralizing the opponent during a match in which the team showed many difficulties in building offensive initiatives. According to Angola Press News Agency, Angola had only one shot on target out of six attempts and 37% ball possession, significantly lower than the opponent's 20 shots, six of which were on target. In two of the most obvious opportunities for the Malians in the second half, the national goalkeeper saved shots from Toure and Doumbia, and prevented, in stoppage time (90+3), what would have been a goal for Mali, with a two-stage save after persistent pressure from the opposing attack. The two teams have one point in Group C, along with Mozambique and Tanzania that will also make their debut match. Angola faces Tanzania on Sunday and closes the group stage against Mozambique. Also on Thu rsday, Senegal faces South Africa, while Algeria faces Ghana in Group D.
