Civil Defence units in Gafsa succeeded on Saturday in bringing under control a fire that broke out in the town’s oasis, destroying almost 3.5 hectares in one of the region’s farms.
The operation to extinguish the fire required the mobilisation of 7 fire trucks and the reinforcement of forestry agents, Houssm Hajji, head of the technical department at Gafsa Civil Defence, told TAP.
“The rapid intervention prevented the fire from spreading to residential areas”, he pointed out, noting that the damage included livestock and fruit trees.
