Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o has been invited to visit Gambia following talks with a special envoy in Luanda. The invitation from Gambian President Adama Barrow was delivered on Thursday by Foreign Minister Sering Modou Njie, with a date for the visit yet to be agreed upon by the two nations.
According to Angola Press News Agency, after an audience with the Angolan head of state, Mr. Njie emphasized that the message focused on issues of mutual interest and highlighted a relationship of "friendship, peace, and brotherhood." Sering Modou Njie stated that Joo Louren§o's visit to Gambia will be marked by an agreement between the diplomacies of the two countries, reinforcing existing ties.
The Gambian Foreign Affairs Minister underscored the excellent cooperation and mutual support at both the regional and continental levels between the two nations. Sering Modou Njie emphasized the roles of Presidents Adama Barrow and Joo Louren§o in strengthening bilateral cooperation and expressed Gambia's interest in further deepening ties. He also mentioned the possibility of signing new cooperation instruments to enhance collaboration.
Sering Modou Njie conveyed gratitude to President Joo Louren§o for the audience and to the Angolan authorities for their reception and hospitality during his visit. He particularly acknowledged the support from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, and the preparations by the Angolan authorities, which made his trip to Angola memorable.
The relations between Angola and Gambia are marked by friendly and cooperative engagements, based on political dialogue and consultation on issues of common interest, with regular contacts between the two countries. Luanda and Banjul also cooperate within the framework of the African Union, focusing on peace, security, stability, and development in Africa. Their consultation extends to a multilateral level, advocating for strengthened African cooperation and dialogue to address challenges affecting the continent.
