Desportivo da Lunda-Sul broke today, Wednesday, the sequence of games without winning at home, by defeating Luanda Cyty, 1-0, in a calendar adjustment match, corresponding to the 2nd round of the National Football Championship of the First Division “Girabola’2024/25”.
Completely transformed, compared to previous performances, Desportivo entered the game focused on attacking, creating game initiatives against an opponent that showed nervousness and some anxiety in the opening minutes.
In the sixth minute, against the flow of play, Crespo caught the Luanda City defense off guard and scored the first and only goal of the match.
Before, Luanda City, in the 5th minute, threatened Nayan’s goal, through André, but he saw the crossbar deny him the goal.
After the goal, the visitors woke up in the game, balancing the match, which forced Maurílio Silva, coach of the “Lundas” to instruct the team to lower their lines on several occasions, to avoid any surprises, especially in the final minutes of the first half.

n the match’s recovery, Luanda City, eager to score an equalizer, started to press and become more offensive, creating numerous opportunities in the opponent’s goal, but lacking in finishing.
Due to the visitors’ offensive volume, Maurílio Silva was forced to reinforce his defense, putting the experienced Cedrick on the field, who gave another dynamic to the defensive maneuver of the “Lundas”, who managed to maintain the slim advantage.
With this result, Desportivo da Lunda-Sul moves up to 8th place, with 9 points, while Luanda City, with 4 points, remains in the red line (15th place).
Reactions
At the end of the match, the assistant coach of Desportivo da Lunda-Sul, Luís Carlos, praised the players’ attitude, stating that the victory will motivate the group for the next challenges.
In turn, Luanda City coach Victor Covilhã lamented the defeat, promising more work to correct some mistakes and get the team out of the red line.
