Government activities and latest developments in Gaza, focus of meeting between Saied and Hachani

The progress of the government’s work over the past few days, its planned activities for the coming period and the situation in Palestine were the focus of a meeting between President of the Republic, Kais Saied, and Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani at Carthage Palace on Tuesday afternoon.

The Head of State was quoted in a presidency statement as saying that “Tunisia is facing economic, social and financial challenges. We have no choice but to face them with the means at our disposal,” affirming that “we must rely on ourselves. We will not accept guardianship from anyone”.

The President of the Republic stressed the need to “cleanse” the Tunisian administration of “corrupt executives” and prosecute those who prevent the launch of projects in the country “despite the availability of funds reserved for them”.

“Whoever is an obstacle must be held accountable. We are fighting a war of national liberation. We have no choice but to win,” said the President.

During the meeting, the Head of State and the Prime Minister discussed in detail the war in Gaza. “About 64% of the martyrs and wounded are women and children. They have been without water and electricity for over a week. Their homes and hospitals are being targeted day and night,” said Saied.

The Head of State said that “the Zionists continue to commit atrocities and massacres. They portray themselves as victims in every genocide and always find those who support them. They turn a blind eye on human rights and international humanitarian law”.

The President of the Republic stressed that “we are at a turning point in history by all standards, at home and abroad. All national forces at home must be on a date with history and every living conscience in the world must stand by the right of the Palestinian people to regain their stolen rights in all of Palestine”.
