Government Authorizes Over 14 Billion Kwanzas for Livestock Management in Humbe

Luanda: The Angolan Executive has authorized the allocation of 14,729,849,479 kwanzas for the recovery, completion, and operationalization of the Humbe-Quiteve Livestock Management Rehabilitation Project, located in the municipality of Humbe, Cunene Province.

According to Angola Press News Agency, this financial approval is formalized through Presidential Order No. 191/25, dated August 4. The order initiates the Simplified Contracting procedure based on material criteria for the project's execution. The directive empowers the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry with the authority to implement decision-making acts, supervise approvals, and verify the legality of all actions within the procedure's framework, including the contract's execution and signing.

The order also stipulates the project's registration in the 2025 State Budget/PIP, replacing the Waco-Kungo Irrigated Perimeter Rehabilitation Project in Cuanza-Sul Province. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's structural initiatives are aimed at achieving food security through resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agri-food systems.

Additionally, the project seeks to maximize the potential of existing infrastructure by restoring and operationalizing it, which is deemed necessary and urgent. This effort aims to expedite job creation, boost agricultural, livestock, and forestry production, and enhance the income of producers across various scales.
