Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Children’s Rights in Namibe

Namibe: The governor of Namibe province, Ema da Silva, reaffirmed on Monday her commitment to the ongoing implementation of policies and concrete measures aimed at improving the living conditions of children and their families.

According to Angola Press News Agency, during the opening ceremony of Children's Day, which coincides with International Children's Day, Ema da Silva highlighted the importance of protecting children's rights. She emphasized that children are the future and their well-being is crucial for the country's development.

Ema da Silva stressed that safeguarding children's rights is a collective responsibility, urging vigilance, human sensitivity, and coordinated action among various societal sectors. She called for a unified effort by the government, families, schools, churches, traditional authorities, and community associations to maintain focus on this issue.

The governor pointed out that protecting children must be a priority in combating issues such as violence against children, including sexual abuse, child labor, school dropout, family neglect, and the adverse impacts of social media. The event was organized under the theme 'Implementing the 11 commitments at local level means promoting children's rights,' underscoring the province's dedication to this cause.
