Handball Championship Showdown: Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto to Battle for Trophy

Huambo: Petro de Luanda and 1º de Agosto are set to face off for the trophy in the 46th National Senior Women's Handball Championship. The final match will take place on Saturday at the Osvaldo de Jesus Serra Van-dºnem Pavilion in the Province of Huambo.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Petro de Luanda secured their place in the final by defeating Sporting de Luanda with a decisive score of 34-13 in the semi-finals. On the other hand, 1º de Agosto earned their spot by overcoming Casa do Pessoal do Porto do Lobito with a score of 21-13. Petro de Luanda, the titleholders, have an impressive record of 25 titles in this competition, while 1º de Agosto has claimed the trophy 9 times.

Petro de Luanda's assistant coach, Baiano dos Santos, expressed the team's goal to win the competition through a strong and convincing performance, consistent with their previous matches in this edition. Meanwhile, 1º de Agosto's assistant coach, Belchior Kamuanga, mentioned that the team aims to improve their efficiency to counter the formidable opponent.

In the matches determining the 5th to 8th place positions, Electro Sport Clube do Lobito triumphed over P©rolas Ba­a Farta with a score of 25-14. Additionally, Escolinha do So Joo do Huambo was defeated by Benga FC, with the final score being 30-38.

In the previous edition of the championship held in Benguela Province, Petro de Luanda narrowly defeated 1º de Agosto with a score of 24-23.
