Head of State Appoints New Judges for Court of Audits

Luanda: The Head of State Joo Lourenço appointed four new judges to the Court of Audits on Wednesday, as part of a curriculum-based selection process aimed at filling existing vacancies. According to Angola Press News Agency, the newly appointed judges are Evaristo José Solano, Joo Carlos de Castro Paiva, Carlos Luís Miguel António, and Fernando de Almeida Gomes. The appointments follow the rectification and approval of the final evaluation results by the competition's Jury Committee, which was confirmed during an extraordinary session of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ) on October 29. The decision underscores the importance of maintaining a competent and efficient judicial system through a rigorous selection process. The Court of Audits plays a crucial role in overseeing the legality and efficiency of public expenditure, and the appointment of these judges is expected to enhance its function and service delivery.
