Head of State Embarks on Diplomatic Mission to New York

Luanda: President Joo Lourenço has embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to New York, United States of America, where he will participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The President's departure on Sunday (20) was marked by a farewell at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, attended by Vice-President Esperança da Costa and other members of the Government. According to Angola Press News Agency, President Lourenço is scheduled to deliver Angola's address during the general debate of the General Assembly on Tuesday (22). The session is focused on the theme "Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers results for everyone." This theme highlights the ongoing efforts to enhance global cooperation and effective governance. Throughout his stay in New York, President Lourenço is expected to engage in an extensive diplomatic agenda. This includes meetings with influential figures across various sectors such as politics, diplomacy, economy, and scie nce. These interactions are anticipated to bolster Angola's international relations and advance its interests on the global stage. The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly commenced its activities on September 8 at the organization's headquarters in New York. The High-Level Week, a key component of the session, will take place from September 22 to 28, offering a platform for world leaders to discuss pressing global issues.
