Health Ministry Expands Nursing Specialization with 4,800 New Vacancies

Luanda: The Ministry of Health will make available 4,800 vacancies for specialization in Nursing, aiming to expand and decentralize specialized training for health professionals in various provinces of Angola. The information was advanced on Tuesday in Luanda by the coordinator and technical manager of the Human Resources Training Program in Health (PFRHS), Job Monteiro, during a working meeting held in Luanda that brought together health sector officials at the central and provincial levels. According to Angola Press News Agency, the aforementioned vacancies will be distributed across different areas of nursing specialization, including community health, maternal and neonatal health, pediatrics, emergency and trauma, nephrology, intensive care, anesthesiology and resuscitation, infectiology, and ophthalmology. "The initiative also brings new training areas; for the first time, nursing specializations in cardiology, oncological health, and forensic nursing are to be made available," Monteiro stressed. The e xpansion is expected to cover the provinces of Malanje, Moxico, Moxico Leste, Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul, Zaire, Namibe, Cuando, and Cubango, making specialized training more accessible to professionals working outside the main urban centers. However, the implementation of the trainings will depend on the existence of minimum conditions in the candidate provinces. Monteiro explained that the selected locations must have adequate infrastructure, equipment, internet access, air-conditioned classrooms, sanitary facilities, and hospital units capable of ensuring practical internships for the trainees. "It will be up to the provinces to guarantee the necessary physical spaces, while the project will support with equipment and pedagogical materials," he stated. In addition to the vacancies intended for nursing specialization, the program provides 2,565 for post-secondary courses, about 400 for diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, and another 320 for areas of medical careers. The start of the new trainings is sched uled for October, depending on compliance with the established requirements and the publication of the respective notices. The measure is part of the aforementioned program, financed by the World Bank and implemented by Minsa, through the Institute of Health Specialization (IES) and the Project Implementation Unit, which plans to train 38,000 professionals by 2028.
