Higher Education Ministry considers setting up national agency for international students

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is considering setting up a Tunisian agency for international students with a view to facilitating the reception and enrolment of foreign students in public and private higher education establishments, providing them with support and facilitating their social integration.

Addressing on Monday the 40th conference for the Arab Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Organization in Arab Countries Universities, hosted by Tunisia on December 18-21 with the title: «Admission and Registration in the Era of Digital Transformation, Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Moncef Boukhdir said that the new agency would serve as the executive structure for Tunisia’s “knowledge diplomacy.”

He added that this structure will work to increase the influence of Tunisian universities by seeking to make public and private higher education establishments more attractive to foreign students, by improving support, reception and communication services, and
by promoting and introducing international university training opportunities.

The number of foreign students in Tunisia during the 2022-2023 academic season is estimated at around 9,498, including some 7,563 students from African countries.
