Interior Minister Evaluates Security Operations in Lunda-Sul

Lunda-sul: Interior Minister Manuel Homem began a working visit to Lunda-Sul province on Thursday to assess the operational readiness of agencies under the Ministry of the Interior. Upon his arrival at Deolinda Rodrigues Airport in Saurimo, the minister was welcomed by Provincial Governor Gildo Matias, members of the Ministry of the Interior's provincial delegation, and law enforcement and security personnel.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Manuel Homem stated that his agenda includes meetings with heads of the sector's various agencies. He will issue specific directives regarding crime prevention and control, fuel smuggling, the illicit mining of strategic minerals, and the maintenance of public security. He also confirmed the upcoming launch of a public recruitment drive for the National Police, a process that will extend to Lunda-Sul province, aimed at bolstering police staffing levels in light of the country's new political-administrative division.

During his stay in the province, the minister will hand over vehicles and preside over the promotion of personnel. He will also visit the Luzia Prison, the National Police health center, the facilities of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) and the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), as well as the site designated for the construction of the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP). The agenda also includes a meeting with members of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of the Interior's provincial delegation.
