Joo Lourenço to Visit Serbia’s Military Technical Institute

Belgrade: Angolan President Joo Lourenço is set to visit the Military Technical Institute of Serbia on Wednesday, marking the third and final day of his state visit to the European nation. His agenda includes an exhibition tour of military equipment, where he will learn about Serbia's capabilities in the production, modernization, and development of defense materials. According to Angola Press News Agency, Joo Lourenço's itinerary also includes a visit to the Vlatacom Technical Institute, a company known for designing and integrating advanced technological systems. On Tuesday, President Lourenço engaged in high-level discussions with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic, and attended the Angola-Serbia Business Roundtable. During their official talks, President Vucic expressed interest in establishing a direct air link between Belgrade and Luanda to enhance connectivity and boost economic, commercial, and tourism relations between the two countries. The meeting concluded with Angola and Serbia signing ten legal instruments across various sectors, including finance, transport, environment, agriculture, private investment, information technologies, mass media, postal service, and export promotion. President Lourenço emphasized the importance of ushering in a new phase of bilateral relations focused on strengthening economic cooperation and boosting private investment. He reminisced about the historical ties between Angola and the former Yugoslavia, especially during Angola's struggle for national liberation. During the Business Roundtable, President Lourenço extended an invitation to Serbian entrepreneurs, investors, and financial institutions to explore opportunities in the Angolan market across different economic sectors. Concluding his engagements on Tuesday, the Angolan Head of State laid a wreath at the monument of Angola's first president, António Agostinho Neto, in Belgrade, visited the Serbian National Assembly, and attended a luncheon hosted by Pres ident Vucic.
