Ouagadougou: A unit of the "Laabal" Brigade led by Police Lieutenant Ouss©ni KONDOMBO raided the Patte d'Oie neighborhood in Ouagadougou this Thursday to raise awareness and enforce attitudes to clean up common areas, improve environmental cleanliness, and ensure compliance with the rules governing the use of public spaces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in this part of Patte d'Oie, and particularly on this major artery, the situation is dismal: the construction of kiosks and shops on the gutters, the connection of wastewater and toilet water to the gutters, the dumping of waste in the gutters, and unsanitary conditions. Faced with these attitudes, which are contrary to the vision of the Popular Progressive Revolution, which advocates order and discipline, Lieutenant KONDOMBO and his men are taking action. Class by class, residents are invited to clean up their living environments. Immediately, the order was given to pick up the garbage littering the streets. The inspection extended into courtyards, and unauthorized connections to the gutters had to be plugged. No detail escaped the "Laabal" Brigade. Even absent heads of households were called by phone to put an end to the observed disturbances.
Shops, kiosks, and other businesses set up in the gutters were dismantled. All day long, the men of the "Laabal" Brigade spread the message about the need for everyone to be part of this dynamic driven by the highest authorities in the country under the leadership of the President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©.
After this awareness-raising phase, things would get tougher for those who were uncivilized when it came to maintaining order and discipline.
In the meantime, Lieutenant KONDOMBO calls on shop owners, kiosk managers, street vendors, and all Burkinabe to take greater responsibility for the cleanliness of their spaces and the preservation of public facilities.
Created on June 18, 2025, the Civic Brigade "Laabal" aims to be a civic instrument of social regulation, capable of noting breaches of basic rules of discipline, civic-mindedness, and sanitation in order to act in complementarity with other already established forces.
