Local elections/Goulette: Candidate Ilhem Ben Saleh undertakes to upgrade sewage infrastructure

Local elections candidate for the Goulette constituency Ilhem Ben Salah said her programme has two main goals; provide social assistance in the region and open a section of the National Sanitation Utility (ONAS) in the locality to upgrade the sewage infrastructure.

She further pointed out the need to speed up the construction of the sports hall, which has been stalled for years.

The candidate, who kicked off her campaign on Sunday with the organisation of a political café, said that the locals mainly call for setting up surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the Goulette Port, to counter irregular migration. they also call for refurbishing the cultural centre and reopening the “Rex” movie theatre.

Eight candidates are vying for a seat on the local council, including 1 who will be selected by sortition.

The Goulette delegation has 5 constituencies, namely: the Goulette, Goulette Casino, Kheireddine, Taieb Mhiri and Essalam neighbourhood.

The Goulette accounts for nearly 7% of Tunis governorate, i.e. 20.
20km², and is home to 58,832 population.
