According to Angola Press News Agency, the talks, held at the Presidential Palace, lasted for about an hour and a half, during which both sides reviewed the political and security situation in the southern and central African region, as well as issues of international interest. T©te Ant³nio noted that Duma Boko’s visit to Luanda is part of the ongoing high-level contacts between the two countries, with particular emphasis on reciprocal visits, including Joo Louren§o’s visit to Gaborone in 2023.
The minister recalled that, despite the existence of a General Cooperation Agreement signed in 2006, progress in its implementation remains limited. This has led the two states to accelerate the conclusion of new legal instruments. “The package includes 17 legal instruments already negotiated, covering areas such as agriculture, livestock, energy, oil and gas, as well as the reciprocal protection of investments,” he stated.
According to the official, the foreign ministers of the two countries are expected to meet shortly in Gaborone to finalize the remaining documents, currently under consideration by the Botswanan authorities. The agreements are expected to be signed in Luanda, on the occasion of a future state visit by Duma Boko, at the invitation of the Angolan President.
