Luanda Bus Terminal Moves to Private Management.

Luanda: The Luanda Passenger Bus Terminal is set to transition to private management, with the initiative aimed at enhancing its services and bolstering both urban and inter-provincial transportation networks, as announced by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) in a recent statement.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the management, maintenance, and operation of this critical infrastructure have been awarded to MD Freitas e Filhos, a private company that emerged successful in a public tender. This tender, initiated in November 2023, encompasses the operation, management, and maintenance of the Luanda, Huambo, and Cuanza-Norte Passenger Bus Terminals.

The statement further clarifies that processes are currently in progress to finalize contracts concerning the management and operation of the Huambo and Cuanza-Norte terminals. The awarded tender facilitates the transfer of operations, management, and maintenance of these three passenger bus terminals for a decade, ensuring the efficient functioning
of the facilities.

Énio Costa, the CEO of ANTT, expressed optimism regarding the new management’s potential to significantly enhance the operational capacity of the inter-provincial transport service at the Luanda terminal.
