Luanda:The 8th edition of the Luanda International Film Festival (FIC-2026) concluded on Monday in Luanda, marking a successful event that showcased nearly 100 films spanning various genres over a period of six days.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the festival director, Jorge Cohen, emphasized the festival's role in fostering both international and national film competitions. He noted that the event contributed to strengthening cultural heritage and enhancing the appreciation of film production in Africa and beyond.
Cohen stated that the festival successfully achieved its goal of connecting Angolan audiences with global cinematic trends by screening films at historic venues in the capital, including the National Cinematheque, the National Cine-Theatre, and the Luanda Science Centre. This year's edition featured participation from more than 10 countries, with Nigeria as the guest country, presenting 12 films, alongside contributions from Brazil.
The festival also included a national competition, showcasing feature films, documentaries, and short films. This provided an opportunity for local industry professionals and the public to explore notable productions from Angola and neighboring countries. Winners were determined by a panel of expert judges from the national and international film sectors.
