Major investment projects to be discussed with Saudi partners in next 6 months (Mohamed Kooli)


Major joint investment projects will be discussed with Saudi partners over the next six months with a view to possible partnerships in promising sectors, Mohamed Kooli, member of UTICA’s board of directors and Tunisia’s representative in the Tunisian-Saudi Business Council, said on Wednesday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Tunisian-Saudi Business Council meeting held at the headquarters of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), Kooli expressed hope that cooperation with Saudi partners would lead to the implementation of major projects in the water, agro-food, environmental, pharmaceutical and other sectors in Tunisia.

For his part, the Saudi representative to the Council, Omar Al Ajaji, stressed his country’s desire to develop its cooperation with Tunisia at various levels, to attract Tunisian investors to invest in the Saudi market and to increase trade and joint investments, particularly in the energy, logistics, industry, agro-food, tourism, petrochemicals and ICT secto

For her part, Minister of Finance, Sihem Nemsia, considered that the solidity of Tunisian-Saudi relations was a favourable ground for strengthening cooperation in several vital sectors, adding that the holding of the Tunisian-Saudi Business Council was an opportunity to discuss the possibilities of economic and commercial partnerships between the two countries.

Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef, pointed out that the role of the public sector in both countries is to create conditions conducive to the realisation of investment opportunities that arise on both sides and to remove any obstacles that may arise.

In this regard, he called for taking advantage of the political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries to boost joint investments and bilateral trade.

‘Tunisia could be a platform for Saudi investors to access the European market, and Saudi Arabia could also serve as a platform for Tunisian investors to access the Asian market,’ he
pointed out.
