Ndalatando: A 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday in Ndalatando (Cuanza Norte) by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) on suspicion of raping a 50-year-old woman, who is the mother of his former girlfriend.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the incident occurred in the Pedreira area when the accused went to the victim's house and asked for shelter because his motorcycle had broken down on the public road en route home. Once inside the residence, he began to speak incoherently to the complainant, who was alone at home. He then forced her to have sex with him, threatening to kill her if she sought help from neighbors or reported the case to the police.
After the incident, the victim informed her family, who then contacted the police. The police subsequently arrested the suspect following a search. However, the accused denies all accusations and considers himself innocent.
According to the SIC spokesperson, the institution has registered 19 sexual abuse crimes since January, mostly against minors, of which 11 have been solved with the arrest of 13 individuals.
