Mbanza kongo: A commission for the funeral of bishop emeritus His Lordship Serafim Shingo-ya-Hombo, who died on January 1 in Namibia, was created on Sunday by the diocese of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the parish priest of the Cathedral of Mbanza Kongo, Eduardo Matumona, stated that the commission is composed of representatives from the clergy, religious members, laypeople, and members of the Provincial Government.
He further explained that the commission's role is to organize all liturgical and protocol ceremonies, including the transfer of the body to Mbanza Kongo. While the exact date and place of burial have not been disclosed, the parish priest noted that it is customary for the Catholic Church to inter bishops at the location and altar where they served their pastoral duties.
His Lordship Serafim Shingo-ya-Hombo, who served as bishop of the diocese of Mbanza Kongo for 16 years, passed away at the age of 80.
