Medenine-Elections: Candidate in Zarzis presents programme to citizens

Candidate Fares Said is running against another candidate to win the seat of the imada of Taher Safar in the local council of Zarzis, which is the largest local council among the nine councils of the governorate of Medenine.

It comprises 15 seats, for which 32 candidates are vying by direct election and two candidates by sortition.

He indicated that his electoral programme covers the cultural, educational and social fields.

He promised to involve young people in decision-making, to implement cultural initiatives to embody their opinions and ideas, to find an urgent solution for the situation of the Municipal Theatre, to refurbish the House of Culture and the cinema, to document and digitise tangible and intangible heritage, and to protect and exploit archaeological sites.

In the field of education, he pledged to seek to open up employment opportunities, create multi-disciplinary vocational training centres, consolidate educational establishments in terms of staff numbers and logistics, develop educationa
l programmes to support the arts and culture and include cultural subjects in school curricula.

On the social front, he will work to provide care for vulnerable groups, create a centre for autistic people, facilitate procedures for granting social housing, create a basic health centre and equip the local hospital with the necessary medical equipment.
