Minister aof State Acknowledges USP’s Role in State Stability

Luanda: The Minister of State and Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic, Joo Ernesto dos Santos "Liberdade," described the Presidential Security Unit (USP) on Wednesday as a pillar of the national security system, citing its contribution to defending the State's interests.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the official made these remarks during the ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Presidential Security Unit (USP). In his address, he highlighted the unit's journey over five decades and praised the professionalism, discipline, loyalty, and dedication of its personnel in carrying out the mission of protecting the President of the Republic and high-ranking State officials.

The Minister of State also paid tribute to the pioneers, former commanders, and personnel who helped establish the unit, noting that their legacy serves as an example of courage, loyalty, and patriotism. He emphasized that current challenges demand constant technical preparation, innovation, and a high sense of responsibility.

He expressed confidence in the unit's ability to continue fulfilling its mission with dedication and a high level of professionalism. To this end, he stated that the Presidential Security Unit (USP) must continue to adapt to new challenges by modernizing its equipment, enhancing personnel training, and increasing operational capacity.

Addressing the unit's personnel, the official said that the 50th-anniversary celebration represents not only a look back at the past but also a commitment to the future-one based on valuing human resources, modernizing equipment, and strengthening operational capabilities. During his speech, he urged personnel to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, patriotism, and a sense of mission, noting that the work of the Presidential Security Unit contributes to political stability, the consolidation of peace, and the strengthening of the democratic state. During the ceremony, the commissioning, promotion, and ranking of Presidential Security Unit (USP) personnel took place.
