Luanda: Angolan Minister of Culture Filipe Zau on Monday praised the performance of the carnival groups in the central act of the 2025 edition, arguing that, despite little subsidy, they had creativity and showed good work. Speaking to the press shortly after the closing of the class A parade, the governor acknowledged that, despite the little subsidy given to the groups, they managed to 'show good work this year'. According to Angola Press News Agency, Minister Filipe Zau emphasized that the groups displayed significant creativity around the theme proposed for the year, which was part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of National Independence. He remarked that while some groups showcased remarkable performances, others demonstrated less creativity, highlighting that financial resources are not the sole determinant of a successful performance. The minister stressed the importance of work and research in producing a good performance. The deputy provincial governor of Luanda for the Political and S ocial sector, Manuel António Gonçalves, also commented on the carnival, noting that the groups delivered a Carnival reflective of the 50 years of Independence. He acknowledged the need for greater investment in the sector to bolster the carnival, especially the street carnival, while recognizing the substantial work that still lies ahead.
