Misinformation Hurts The Citizen, Says Odoyo Owidi

The government is formed by a winning political party, and it provides services to every citizen, Odoyo Owidi, the Chairperson of the Lake Victoria Water Works Development Agency, has said.

He said that is how it works in government the world over.

‘But because politicians have confused the people, they cannot distinguish between the government and the ruling party; you mix up issues, and that is where we get it wrong,’ Odoyo said.

He said the problem is that some people want to keep securing their seats, and that is the reason why they keep on pointing out to their people that the government of the day is an enemy.

‘There is no government that can be an enemy of its people, no way. Because that government derives its existence from the people, its taxes are from the people, and its support is from the people, that cannot happen,’ he said.

The chairperson said that when you see people telling you there is something wrong with every government of the day, that is for self-preservation.

‘You lie to the p
eople so that you can control how they think; you tell the person lies so that you can exploit them,’ he said.

Odoyo explained that the government of the Republic of Kenya for the next 5 years is their government and called on the people to be close to the government to get all the services they need.

He said during government functions, there are very few people who come from the opposition to attend functions, saying most of the events are attended by government officials and those who support the ruling party.

‘This is because of the misinformation of the political leaders that is making the people not distinguish between the government and the ruling party,’ he said.

The chairman was speaking Tuesday during the celebration to mark the 60th Jamhuri Day held at Kwoyo Secondary School in Rachuonyo South Sub County.

He said functions like Jamhuri Day are a function of the government of the Republic of Kenya, not the ruling political party, saying we would all be winners if all members of the opposition p
arty and ruling party attended, and each one of them made their statement, and the people decided between all those who have talked who is who and what civilization is.

He termed political competition as not war, not a fight, and urged people to wait 5 years to compete again.

‘Let’s not fight, but embrace peace, love, unity, and fair competition, and go with the law,’ he said.
