Narok Deputy Traffic Commander Dies In A Road Accident


Police in Narok County are mourning the deputy traffic commander Calvin Ochieng who passed on this morning after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a road accident along the Narok- Bomet highway at Ratili area, Narok South Sub County.

Ochieng was driving his personal vehicle KBU 730E from the Bomet side, when he collided head on with the lorry, belonging to Crown parcel which was traveling in the opposite direction.

It happened that the police officer was in the process of overtaking an unknown lorry when he collided head on with the lorry.

As a result of the impact, the police officer sustained serious injuries on both legs and chest and succumbed to the injuries on the spot.

Narok County police commander Riko Ngare confirmed the accident saying the officer was driving from his rural home to the office when he met the accident.

He described the officer as a dedicated officer who conducted his assignments with minimal supervision.

‘He was very active on the roads to ensure a smooth traffic flow
along various roads in Narok town. I wish to convey my sincere condolences to the family, friends and the entire police force,’ he said.

Ngare called on motorists to be vigilant while driving along the smooth highway to avert accidents that have been on the rise in the country in the recent past.

The body of the deceased was taken to Longisa hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.

As a result of the accident, members of the public have taken to social media to mourn the officer whom they described as friendly and hardworking.
