National Assembly Mourns Passing of MP Fernanda dos Santos

Luanda: Angolan National Assembly The Angolan National Assembly (AN) on Saturday expressed profound sorrow over the death of MP Fernanda Filomena dos Santos, who passed away today in the city of Lubango, Hu­la Province, following an illness.

According to Angola Press News Agency, in a message of condolence, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ado de Almeida, expressed his 'deep sorrow and great consternation' upon learning of the passing of Fernanda Filomena dos Santos. Elected from the Hu­la Provincial Electoral Constituency, the MP was recognized as a prominent advocate of the legitimate interests of the Angolan people, particularly through her initiatives aimed at enhancing the education and health sectors.

The statement highlighted her role as a member of the National Assembly's Committee on Health, Education, Higher Education, Science and Technology (6th Committee), where she contributed her knowledge, experience, and dedication. She was known for her strong sense of public duty, diligence, and unwavering commitment to public service.

Her premature and unexpected death has left the Nation in mourning and created a profound void within her family, the province of Hu­la, and the National Assembly. The statement extended its deepest condolences to her bereaved family.
