National Assembly to Discuss Key Bills and Substitute MPs at 6th Ordinary Plenary Meeting

Luanda: The National Assembly (AN) is set to convene for its 6th Ordinary Plenary Meeting this Thursday, focusing on discussing and approving several important bills, alongside the substitution of Members of Parliament (MPs). A significant highlight of the session will be the suspension of deputy Carolina Cerqueira's mandate, following her request.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the session's agenda includes a final overall vote on the Draft Law amending Law No. 22/21, dated October 18, which governs the Angolan Passport Law and the Regime for the Exit and Entry of National Citizens. Additionally, the Draft Law approving the Statute of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) is also up for discussion.

The meeting will also feature deliberations and voting on the draft law concerning the Military Discipline Code, which proposes amendments to Law No. 13/18 of October 29, regarding Military Careers in the Angolan Armed Forces. Other draft laws on the agenda address issues such as combating fake news on the internet and enhancing cybersecurity measures.

Before addressing the main agenda, deputies are expected to read announcements, deliver quarterly political statements, and discuss internal matters. This session follows the previous plenary meeting where MPs approved the overall State General Budget (OGE) for the 2026 fiscal year, projecting revenues and expenditures of 33.2 billion kwanzas.
