Luanda:The National Director of Territorial Planning, Alcíbiades Guynhy, has emphasized the necessity for increasing the number of technicians specializing in territorial planning, infrastructure, and housing across municipalities in Angola. This initiative aims to better manage the occupation of residential land.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Alcíbiades Guynhy mentioned during a press interaction at a lecture on urban awareness that after the recruitment of additional technicians, providing them with adequate training is crucial.
The National Directorate recently completed the training of over 450 municipal administration technicians specializing in land planning, infrastructure, and housing. The training aims to equip these technicians with the skills necessary to execute their duties with precision, ultimately enhancing urban dignity.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing (MINOPUH), through the National Directorate of Territorial Planning and Urbanism (DNOTU). It focused on addressing the challenges cities face and promoting sustainable urban development.
The lecture also targeted raising awareness among the academic and technical communities regarding the importance of active citizenship in preserving, organizing, and structuring urban spaces. Additionally, it aimed to stimulate discussions on the current challenges of sustainable urban growth.
This activity forms part of Urban October, an initiative created by UN-Habitat to foster dialogue on sustainable urbanization, city planning, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
